I am not saying that you should be doing all of this yourself. I am just saying that you should take the time to learn about the various contractors that you can choose from.

You have a contractor who is going to do the work because you have hired him. You don’t know what will happen. You have no idea what this house is going to look like years from now. You might end up with a giant hole in the wall, or no house at all.
The first thing to realize about the construction industry is that there is very little training for contractors. This is a serious problem. The first thing that you need to know is to really look into the kind of contractor that you are hiring, the quality of his experience, and the overall experience of the company. That takes time. The reality is that your contractor is going to want to make sure that you are happy, that you are happy with the quality of the work that he is doing.
This is why I always recommend that you hire a contractor that is a strong proponent of the company and the project.
